Full Description

Earthworks of small slit trenches can be seen in Southwold on aerial photographs from 1941 (S1). These are mostly located in the gardens of private houses, although there are two trenches on grassland between North Parade and the beach. A gun emplacement, possibly a spigot mortar emplacement, is also visible in the garden of a house on North Parade. These features are still visible in 1943 (S2).
