Full Description

A length of beach scaffolding of World War II date can be seen running along the beach between the coastal battery at East Lane (BAW 050) and the strongpoint to the south (BAW 087) where it forms one side of the enclosure. It would have formed one part of the anti-invasion defences along this stretch of the Suffolk coast. (S1) Remains of the scaffolding were still visible in 1995. (S2)
Bawdsey Beach, East Lane, Bawdsey. Scaffolding obstacle, although rusting, remarkably well-preserved within beach. Southern section almost to full height (S3).
