Full Description
Two abutting sea banks are visible as earthworks on 1945 aerial photographs (S1) in Minsmere nature reserve. The two sections of bank measure 595m and 923m respectively. These banks are part of the flood defences in this area, and are likely to be of post-medieval date, as they are depicted on the OS County 1st series 25" map of c1884. There are other similar features in this area.
February 2015. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Beauty National Mapping Programme.
Further areas of these sea bank earthworks are visible on aerial photographs
(S2), however these have not been mapped due to limited time and project scope.
S. Horlock (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 18th February 2015.
