Full Description
A structure is visible on aerial photographs from 1942 onwards, centred on circa TM38794654 on Boyton Marshes, Boyton parish (S1). It is not possible to tell from the photograph what the purpose of the structure was, but its changing appearance on photographs from 1942 to 1945 suggests it is a covered feature, possibly a Light Anti-aircraft Artillery site (LAA) (S2). It may be associated with a Nissen hut type structure further to the south with which it is connected by a trackway (see BOY 024). The trackway heads to the north (see BOY 024) and connects this structure with two other possible LAA sites of slightly later date (BOY 049, BOY 050). The possible location of a number of temporary structures can be seen as parchmarks or hardened surfaces about 150m to the west, but these have not been mapped.
