Description

Archaeological monitoring was carried out on three mechanically excavated test pits. The pits were excavated to a depth ranging between 1.5m and 1.9m. The topsoil measured c.0.4m over a c.1.1m to 1.5m of sandy subsoil. It was suggested that with such a depth of overburden was due to it having been quarried in the recent past.
