Full Description
"A hoard of pewter vessels, an iron key and saw blade, a few animal bones and two sherds of Romano-British pottery, one of which was Samian, were found by an RAF bomb disposal unit on Berners Heath in (April) 1956". Found with mine detector. Hoard consists of nine pieces - "five bowls, a large tray, a jug, a pedestal cup and a dish with an incised pattern of a fish","depth of 2 feet" (S1,S5,S6,S7). Also note `R/B sherds, 2/4th'(century) marked in pencil 200m to SE on SAU HER map (IKL 102)(S2).
