Full Description
`Within the remains of an encampment on Warren Farm in this parish (Woolpit) were found a small spiked ornament of ivory, bronze fragments of horse furniture, and two Roman coins' (S1).
"Woolpit .... certain large and deep ditches, which he supposes Roman, and Roman coins are frequent here" (S2)(R1).
`Golding, in 1855, exhibited a small spiked ornament of ivory, bronze fragments of horse fittings and two Roman coins which were found within, "The Roman Encampment" on Warren Farm (now Lawn Farm)' (S2)(R2). No trace of ditches or earthworks on OS 1st edition 6 inch map or on Woolpit or Elmswell (Wetherden not checked) tithe maps.
Note: Warren Farm, Woolpit, has been confused with Warren Farm, Wetherden - see EWL Misc.
