Full Description

2012: Evaluation trenching revealed a ditch. The ditch was roughly orientated south-west to north-east. The ditch extended beyond both ends of the trench and was 1.50m wide. Animal bone and a sherd of Roman pottery were recovered from this ditch. The ditch runs adjacent to the roadway and it could represent the original roadside ditch of Roman date (S1).
