Summary

Alderton Farm visible on 1st Ed OS map and tithe map. The farmhouse and a range of buildings are listed with the farmstead dating from the 15th century and one range of buildings dating from the 17th century. There are two linear ranges of buildings at a slight angle to each other. The house is set apart. The farmstead is set to the south of a public road alongside St Bartholomews Church.

Full Description

Alderton Farm visible on 1st Ed OS map and tithe map. The farmhouse and a range of buildings are listed with the farmstead dating from the 15th century and one range of buildings dating from the 17th century. There are two linear ranges of buildings at a slight angle to each other. The house is set apart. The farmstead is set to the south of a public road alongside St Bartholomews Church.

Recorded as part of the Farmsteads in the Suffolk Countryside Project. This is a purely desk-based study and no site visits were undertaken. These records are not intended to be a definitive assessment of these buildings. Dating reflects their presence at a point in time on historic maps and there is potential for earlier origins to buildings and farmsteads. This project highlights a potential need for a more in depth field study of farmstead to gather more specific age data.
