1828 wreck of English cargo vessel which stranded on the Shipwash Sand, en route from Shields to London with coal; a wooden sailing vessel.
Status: Casualty

`Aldeburgh, 22nd March -...to London, was lost on the Shipwash Sand on Friday evening. Crew saved. Materials expected to be saved.' (2)

`Harwich March 23. The MARY, Shepherd, from Shields for London, is lost on the Shipwash Sand. Crew saved and landed here.' (3)

Wrecked on Shipwash Sand, crew saved. (4)

`The MARY of South Shields, coal laden, was totally lost on the Shipwash on the 21st ult. Crew saved and landed at Harwich.' (5)
