Full Description
(TL 79396422) Bronze Swords found AD 1848 (NAT) (S1)
Swords were found 15 chains east of Barrow Hall in 1848. (S2)
Two bronze leaf-shaped swords were found, surrounded by stones and blackened earth in 1850 or 51 by labourers widening a ditch by the footpath leading from the Great Green to the Rectory, near the north east corner of the meadow containing the moated enclosure of the old Hall (TL 76 SE 2). It was reported at the time that they accompanied an interment but this has not been confirmed. (S3)
Although there is a discrepancy in the dates the authorities probably refer to the same find. (S4)
