Full Description
Hall Green site revealed pottery sherds after ploughing for many years prior to December 1946, when J W Blake ploughed out small bronze bell, which may be LSax. Pottery said to range from LSax to EMed, but only Med pottery recorded by IPSMG. Basil Brown thought the large areas of black patches may have been hut sites. He also suggested that the area had been a settlement site since pre-historic times as he found Mes and Neo flints during his visits there in the 1940's and 1950's. He recognised a possible ploughed out moat in 1956, later confirmed by air photographs of cropmarks (S1,S2,S3)(R1). Many sherds from site in SAU store. These range from EMed to PMed (two fragments) and include also three Rom sherds.
