Full Description
An extensive complex of probable oyster pits, of unknown date, visible in shoreline saltmarsh south of Iken Church (from TM 411563 to TM 411560). The individual pits range in size from c.1.5m x 2m up to c.7.5m x 8m and are laid out in a fairly regular pattern, although the northern extremity has been eroded so that the original extent of the complex is uncertain. (S1-2)
Pits also seen during field survey of coastal area - squared timbers visible in eroded saltmarsh area. Area of saltmarsh behind is full of Oyster pits. Probably related. S3
