Full Description
Beach defence barbed wire can be seen stretching for over 1.1km just to the west of the beach to the south-east of Minsmere Level, on 1941 & 1943 aerial photographs (S1,S2). The features can also be made out on aerial photographs from 1945 (S3). The beach defences are a part of the World War II defences in this area, and would have been a component of much more widespread defences which covered much of the Suffolk coastline during the war.
2014: A survey of WW2 heritage at risk on the Suffolk coast identified multiple elements of beach scaffolding eroiding from the sea bank (S4).
