Deserted Medieval settlement of Thorington/Great Haugh.

Thorington - in digging the foundations for a cartshed to a new farmhouse on Colonel Brices property in this parish in 1824-1825, 6 or 7 Roman urns, much broken, were found (S1). Formerly recorded as TNG MISC

1957: `Thorington Hall, rebuilt in 1817-1820 (for Col H B Bence), at a cost of £16,000, has been recently demolished' (S1).

Evaluation and excavation identified a 2 Iron Age pits.

Inhumation burial together with beaker.

Monitoring identified a large pit and a layer of packed brick related to activity at the Thorington Hall since its 17th century construction.
