Description

An archaeological evaluation and excavation on land at Place Farm ahead of proposed installation of water and gas pipelines and electricity cables. A total of 34 evaluation trenches measuring 30m long and 1.8m wide were excavated revealing archaeological deposits in five areas of Later Prehistoric and Romano British date. As a result of the trenching excavation areas A to E ( A:15m x 83m, B:15m x 12m, C:318m X 10m, D:23m x 14m, E:10m x 5.5m) were opened to mitigate the impact of the service trench scheme on the archaeological remains.
