Full Description

1980-1981: Area of 60m square excavated, 15m North of the street frontage. Pits and post hole of Middle Saxon date and a coin of Alfred (871-899)(S1). A continuous sequence of occupation was revealed, from the Middle Saxon period onwards. One pit, with characteristic Ipswich/Thetford ware changeover group of pottery, was associated with a coin of King Alfred. (S2)
