Summary

Evaluation located extensive ditch system (see IPS 1494 for mapping), some probably Post Medieval but others probably earlier. Also single pit with beaker rim and one ditch with Roman and Middle Saxon pottery.

Full Description

1999: Desk based assessment was undertaken, collating HER data, historic maps and aerial photographs for the site and surrounding area. Also Magnetometer survey. (S2).

2000: Evaluation located extensive ditch system, some probably Post Medieval but others probably earlier. Also single pit with beaker rim and one ditch with Roman and Middle Saxon pottery. Details in (S1).

2001: Three further areas within evaluation selected for further excavations see IPS 404-406.

Desk based assessment was undertaken, collating HER data, historic maps and aerial photographs for the site and surrounding area (S2).

2016: Discussion with Suffolk Archaeology CIC suggests FIDO may actually be burnt mound of potential Saxon date (see IPS 979, spread of burnt material to North East of Barrow), (S3). Also some field systems/ditches identified as Post Medieval may in fact be of prehistoric age.
