Full Description

1970s - 1980s: `Iceni coin, boar-horse type' found by [the late] John King in 1981 with a metal detector `beside footpath', South East of known Roman site, (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) approximately. Several other Iceni coins also known as from this site (S1). Area heavily metal detected in 1970's and early 1980's by various unknown persons. `Many Iron Age coins' (metal detected) from (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) site, `seem to have been found in a line', suggested as trackway by (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s)(S2).

1989: Three Iron Age (& one Roman) silver coins (belonging to (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s), ? some of above) photographed by Chris Mycock (S3). These are all Iceni type:

1) Pattern horse. Obv: two back-to-back crescents and four leafed or branched ornaments as Tasciovanus staters. Rev: horse with Y pattern head with spoked wheel behind, dotted circle below. Rare, circa AD 10, similar to Allen III (S4).

2) Pattern horse, ?inscription not visible. Obv: two back-to-back crescents. Rev: horse with Y pattern head with dotted wheel behind and S below. Probably late?

3) Face horse. Obv: moustached head. Rev: horse with `pelta-shaped pattern above. Allen type Normal B, probably 101 (from AD 43?)(S4). These three coins also identified by Derek Harrison - see (S5).

1991: Further silver coin found metal detecting by (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s)(USAF). Described as pattern horse reverse, two crescents obverse (S6).

1994: Two terret ring fragments found detecting by (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s). Details in (S7)(R2) and drawings in file.
Also Bronze Age, Roman, Medieval, Un & Saxon.

2013: An incomplete copper-alloy La Tene I brooch, type IBc, of 4th to 3rd century BC found by metal detecting (SF-A56522). (S8)
