Full Description
c.1873-c.1928: Post Glacial Upper Palaeolithic and Mesolithic artefacts from Mildenhall (area) in British museum:
Gravettian, "Font Robert Point" (S1, S3, S4), unknown provenance. Pre 1950s? "A large tanged leaf point bearing a remarkable resemblance to an Earlier Upper Palaeolithic one from Pin Hole Cave, Derbyshire. It is stained a lustrous brown. It bears a printed label: `Mildenhall F' and it may be that this is the label of Fenton, the antique dealer of Mildenhall, and not its true provenance"(S1).
Late Palaeolithic/Late Magdalenian/Creswellian: Backed Blades, Shouldered Point, Knives, Burin, (S2).
Final Palaeolithic: Penknife Point (S2).
Terminal Palaeolithic: Blades, Long Blades, Crested Blades, Bruised Blades, Blade cores (S2).
Mesolithic: 8 cores, 1 being 10.5 cms long; 13 blades/flakes; 3 scrapers; 42 microliths, Tranchet Axes (S1).
Also various Blades, cores and scrapers mentioned in the Pamela database no dates to a specific period between the Late palaeolithic and Mesolithic, (S2).
