Various excavations producing mainly faunal remains but also a few worked flints from `Stoke bone bed'.

C. 1846 Rail cutting, see IPS 072.

1908: Excavation by Nina Layard, Faunal remains located.

1948: Pipe trench, yielded faunal remains, a tortoise core and a levallois scraper.

1975: Pipe trenches observed.

1976: Excavation

1990: Designated SSSI due to fossiliferous remains (S2). Area defined on HER map amended to include whole SSSI in November 1994.

2002: Evaluation and Watching Brief, no finds or features, (S3).
