Description

Rapid earthwork survey was carried out to identify previously unrecognised earthworks within the Forestry plantations of south-east Norfolk and north-west Suffolk which are under threat by certain forestry practices, especially destumping. Previous survey was undertaken in 1998. This survey in 2001 has identified 110 exisiting earthworks within a total area of approx 428 ha. The main objective is to establish the existance rather than the purpose or importance of any earthworks. 84 compartments were visited during the survey, of these 44 were found to contain some form of earthwork (S1).
