Description

A number of previously unrecognised earthworks were recognised within the Forestry plantations of south-east Norfolk and north-west Suffolk. The treat posed to these, and other as yet unidentified earthworks, by certain forestry practices, especially destumping, has been recognised. In response to this threat a rapid identification survey was commissioned by Forest Enterprise and carried out by members of SCCAS. 16 previously unrecorded probable burial mounds, an area of possible Neolthic flint mining and numerous banks, ditches and pits/quarries were located (S1).
